In the summer of 2019, right after Bridget passed, I had the idea of honoring her with a challenge. I came up with the idea of walking 31 miles on the anniversary of her passing. I completed various 31 day “Bridget Challenges” of walking, rowing, resistance training, and yoga that helped get me in shape. A few weeks before the day, I walked 21 miles as a warm up. I had some blisters but overall I felt I was ready for the actual walk! On March 21, 2020 I set out for the walk. Katie dropped me off at the beginning of the D and R Canal in New Brunswick. I threw on my headphones with many podcasts in my queue and just started walking. At about mile 20, Katie met me with a change of shoes. I had more blisters but was able to power through. I finished the 31 miles somewhere in Lawrence Township. I let Katie know where I was and then just laid on the ground in the middle of a parking lot which is where Katie found me! It took almost 9 hours but was well worth it as I learned a lot about myself through the entire process.
